Football Social Responsibility (FSR) is committed to using football as a tool for inclusion, wellbeing, and community engagement. Through a range of initiatives, FSR works closely with refugees and asylum-seekers in Malta, creating opportunities for participation, personal development, and social integration.
One of FSR’s key activities is the organisation of regular football training sessions for refugees and asylum-seekers. These sessions provide a safe and welcoming environment where participants can stay active, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence, and develop friendships with people from different backgrounds.

FSR also coordinates Malta’s participation in the Unity EURO Cup, a UEFA tournament that brings together refugee players from across Europe. Throughout the year, players train together as one team representing Malta, promoting teamwork, respect, and a sense of belonging. The Unity EURO Cup gives participants the opportunity to showcase their talents while proudly representing their host country on an international stage.

Beyond the football pitch, FSR team regularly visits open centres across Malta to engage with residents, introduce them to sporting opportunities, and encourage participation in community activities. These visits help build trust and strengthen relationships with refugee communities.

FSR also carries out visits to detention centres, using football as a way to engage with individuals during a particularly challenging period of their journey. These visits create opportunities for interaction, teamwork, and physical activity, helping participants experience moments of positive social engagement.
